I know that many of you, like me, have loved and appreciated the ten years of great writing that Rebecca Woolf has shared with us on her blog, Girls Gone Child. About two weeks ago, Rebecca’s husband Hal went to the ER with what he thought was just some stomach pain. It turned out that Hal has Stage IV pancreatic cancer, one of the toughest of all cancers to beat. In a single moment, this family’s life changed forever.
Now, despite what anyone may think, no one – not even the most well-read bloggers like Rebecca – is getting rich as a mommyblogger. Basically, as a full-time blogger, you’re a work from home mom with your own business, with all the ups and downs that come with running any small business from the kitchen table. And even for very affluent people, the costs of caring for a family member with an illness this serious are, as you can imagine, astronomical. Plus, as readers of Girls Gone Child know, Rebecca and Hal have four young children to care for.
That’s why friends of Rebecca and Hal have set up a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of raising $150,000 for the family to use to pay for Hal’s care and the associated costs that come up in a situation like this.
I had the pleasure of working with Rebecca on a project for HGTV, and she’s a simply lovely person. Rebecca has given us ten years of beautiful, funny, smart and insightful writing and now here’s a way to give back to her for this. Please consider making a donation to Hal and Rebecca’s GoFundMe campaign. Every little bit helps.
